project - the african fabbers project activates a collective process that enables a reconsideration of the relationship between new technology and traditional culture through a laboratory practice. this idea is based on a perspective of renewed continuity, rather than strict separation. the dialogue with the neapolitan association less impresa sociale onlus makes real afriacan fabbers in naples.

it develops a workshop for fab world jewelry, a startup composed by african asylum seekers, refugees and artisans hosted in less onlus that design and produce jewelry. the aim of the workshop is to improve their digital skills mixing them with their manual knowledge. the participants learn the principles of advanced design and the basis command of rhinoceros 3d. moreover they learn how to launch a 3dprinter. after this first phase we design by sketches different parts of necklaces, they digitalize these parts and then we 3d print them.  when the 3d printer finishes, they assembly the 3d printed parts with african materials, nylon, recycled parts from old jewelries to compose 5 new necklaces.
